Salvador de Bahia, initial stage...
The practical phase of the project started in september 2001 in Salvador de Bahia where I collected some 250 pairs of shoes and created the first environment " Goree".

an indian fishermen boat was used for the show in Salvador. Here is an image of part of the boat.

the kids shoes...
in the pack, I found two pairs that visibly belonged to kids. That was an emotional moment.

it is amazing how each shoe has its own specific story to tell. |
so many stories...
put together, the 250 pairs of shoes start telling hundreds of stories to the keen ear...

the boat is ready to sail with its load of memories. Next destination, the island of Goree |

a conversation establishes itself between the shoes and the public.
